Aslam is an Assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IITR) since February 2023.  He was born in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra). He obtained M.Sc. (2012) in Chemistry from HPT Arts and RYK Science College in Nashik and secured 1st rank at Savitribai Phule Pune University. In 2013, he joined CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory, Pune as a research assistant for Dr. Muthukrishnan. He then pursued his Ph.D. (2018) studies at CSIR-NCL, Pune with a Prestigious Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship (SPMF), under the supervision of Dr. Nitin T. Patil, having studied the synthesis of organic fluorophores through metal-catalyzed functionalization of C-C multiple bonds. In Aug-2018, he subsequently undertook PDRA positions at the University of California, Los Angeles with Professor Ohyun Kwon, on phosphine catalysis, and at the University of Arizona, Tucson with Prof. Thomas Gianetti, on the Lewis acid catalysis and Photocatalysis. Before joining IIT-Ropar as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, he worked as a synthetic organic chemist at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, KSA with Prof. Mohamed Eddaoudi.
